My son has struggled with letters and their sounds. When I received these Magnetic Letters from #Somasix. You can also find them ">here on Amazon. I knew I had a new tool that could help in making these concepts more fun for him.
The #Somasix letter are twice as big and very colorful.
I have been putting rhyming picture cards on the fridge the past few days and Mr. "I" has been trying to break the sounds apart and then spelling them out. I am not so worried about if he gets the word spelt right but I wanted to see if he could get the sounds.
The cards I received a few years back from a literacy program one of my other children and I attended through our local library.
Today, I also added a sight word for him to spell out. This was more for Letter Recognition we did good until we got to A the magnet letter actually spells the little a just like your computer would. Nice because these little guts need to realize that A can be written more than one way and often is. I am surprised that he didn't reach for the small red "a" in the Montessori magnets though.
The Vocab cards I got over at HomeschoolCreations.com and then clicked on the "Good Night Moon" link. She has the "Read, Build, Write" mats you can download plus vocabulary cards for book units, themes and letters, numbers, shapes, colors. These have been a great help in my preschool and teaching vocabulary.
